I want to tell you about my native land - It is Yakutia. I am proud of my born place because of it is the largest subnational governing body by area in the world. This is land of my ancestors and Olonho. Only here I can feel my self as human.
Yakutia is well endowed with raw materials. The soil contains large reserves of oil, gas, coal, diamonds, gold, and silver. 99% of all Russian diamonds are mined in Yakutia, accounting for over 23% of the world's diamond production.
Yakutia is also known for its climate extremes, with Verkhoyansk Range being the coldest area in the northern hemisphere. The Northern Hemisphere's "Cold Pole" is at Oymyakon, where the temperatures have reached as low as –71.2° C in January, 1926.
The capital city of Yakutia is Yakutsk, which was founded as an ostrog by Pyotr Beketov in 1632.
Yakutia has a wonderful and picturesque landscape. For example "Lenskie Stolbi", "Gory Kiselieh", "Buluus" and etc.
