The Republic of Sakha is the biggest republic in the Russia Federation.
The Republic of Sakha is situated in the northeastern part of the Eurasian continent. There are four geographic zones: taiga forest, tundra, forest tundra and Arctic desert. Yakutia has more rivers and lakes then almost any other Russian region. The climate is extremes in Yakutia. In some regions the temperature can drop below – 68’ C and in summer it can be +36 ‘C above zero. But in any way the Republic of Sakha has an unusual rich fauna. Walruses, seals and polar bears inhabit the islands, moose, reindeer, musk deer, brown bears and wolves, Arctic fox, sable, ermine and American mink are found in the continental regions. More than 50 species of fish are found in the republic’s rivers, lakes and coastal waters. There are more than 250 bird species here. The flora includes 1,831 species of vascular plants 526 species of moss and more than 510 species of mushrooms.
